Why?
by Peg
Sometimes you have got to just ask “why?”. I’ve been somewhat wired that way my whole life, and I KNOW some of my kids are as well! In order to get us on board with something we need to know, “What’s the point?”
As a business we also need to give people the “why?”. Why would you shop at Vander Berg Furniture and Flooring instead of another store or even online? Well, here’s the deal…we are not trying to be or do what our competitors are doing. We know you can get cheap imports through a lot of sources so there is no need for that. We see a need to give you the best value for the dollars you spend. We carry a wide range of price points – moderate to higher end. In fact, they may be sitting directly next to one another in our showroom. When you see the more striking pieces they tend to bring the value of items around them up along with them in your mind’s eye.
You may say that a few of our products are pretty expensive. Generally speaking, there is a reason for those that are higher. You pay for quality workmanship. Take for example our Amish bedroom and dining sets…100% hand crafted and made to your specific choices with family friendly finishes. They have an intrinsic value you can see at a glance.
Smith Brothers Furniture is top of the line solid maple frame with individual springs sets per seat and the best foam core in the industry. Each piece is signed by members of the team who made it. When you put your name on something you have pride that you did your best work.
As far as some of less expensive lines we try to source the best tailoring for that price point as well. A few things of course are imports. These we also research to find the best for our customers.
The vast majority of our furniture is made in America. We can point out on the map where it’s made. Basset Virginia, Tupelo Mississippi, Winesburg Ohio, Martinsville Virginia, Ashville North Carolina, Berne Indiana, Lexington North Carolina, Marshfield Wisconsin, Bedford Virginia. When you purchase through us you are not only supporting jobs right here in Northwest Iowa but also all across the United States.
A few years back, when the rest of the country was in a bit of a recession, Doug was at the factory of Stratford Homes in Stratford Wisconsin and several workers came up and shook his hand saying. “We want to thank you for your orders, helping to keep us from being laid off.” Doug and all of us here know that it is you, not us, who keep things going and orders coming in.
We take pleasure in helping you achieve your goal of a lovely home in which you can raise your family, entertain friends and stay comfortable throughout the year. Thank you for allowing Vander Berg Furniture & Flooring the chance to play a role in helping to make your house “feel like home!”
