Summer Blog Series: VB Inspired Designs 3
It is now the third week of our Summer Blog Series: VB Inspired Designs! For those new to our blog, during the summer, we will be showcasing room-by-room designs, explaining the thought behind every style decision, and giving you tips so you can incorporate these designs into your own home (Make sure to check out Design 1 and Design 2). Our third design centers around an aqua-hued bedroom with a casual beach theme, resulting in a relaxing and soothing space.
The basic foundation of our featured design is the bedding. We chose neutral colored bedding to allow us the flexibility of changing the pillows, sheets, and throws seasonally. In this case, we wanted to make the room feel “summery” and casual.
To make the room look like a summer beach house getaway, we utilized various textures in the design, especially in the pillows. Utilizing texture is key when you aren’t incorporating numerous colors into your design.
Along with the pillows, the base of the lamp provides some texture within the design. The lamp base provides varied textural feels and a definite coastal color of blue to add to the beach theme.
The natural weathered wood mirror continues the beach theme, resembling scattered driftwood one may find while walking on the beach.
There are various colors incorporated into this design. The off-white colors remind you of sand. These colors are most evident in the white-washed side table with softer lines, the canvas fabric in the footboard, and the grain in the bleached wood headboard washed by soft waves.
If the off-white colors are reminiscent of the sand, the sea blue color reminds people of the water. The use of the color blue was very intentional within this design. The varied blue hues make the room a soothing space, creating a perfect place for slumber. The soft blue hues remind you of sea and sky; they are intended to bring a tranquil vibe. The bolder blues have a youthful vibrancy, while the deeper shades of blue are cool and elegant.
Well, if you’re going for the casual beach theme, hopefully this design gave you a little inspiration! If you want to explore this “summery” look further, stop in and chat with one of our designers. They would love to provide you with insight and direction for sprucing up your space.
