Summer Blog Series: VB Inspired Designs
With the beautiful weather today, it seems like a perfect time to begin our Summer Blog Series! This summer, we are going to be showcasing room-by-room designs, explaining the thought behind every style decision, and hopefully giving you tips so you can incorporate these designs into your own home!
We are starting this series with a space that invites you to come and relax. The soft, neutral colors in the room pull the space together by making you want to unwind, and by using quality Smith Brothers furniture, it is guaranteed to be comfortable.
The soft colors demonstrate a bold pattern and texture that gives this room increased visual interest. The fabric on the chair and pillows move the room from ordinary to interesting.
To make the space feel larger than it actually is, we used a lighter color for the sofa. Darker colors tend to take up more visual space, which causes rooms to feel smaller than they actually are. This means using darker colors is a great idea when you have a large space to furnish!
The larger pieces in the room act as an anchor, giving the space a purpose that is clearly defined. Rugs provide a foot-friendly attribute to the space, especially when you have a tile floor. Tile can sometimes feel cold, wood can feel hard, and while relaxing it can be nice to have the comfort of a rug.
Finishing the room off with accessories can always feel overwhelming. By contrasting the soft neutrals of the furniture with the sharp chrome and metal accents of the accessories, the space feels unique and inviting. They provide a punch of brightness and reflection that scatters across the space to make it feel more open and alluring.
