Jodi’s Top Home Décor Takeaways from the Las Vegas Market
Looking for an inside scoop on the latest in furniture and home décor? The Vander Berg Furniture team recently attended the semi-annual Las Vegas Market hosted by the World Market Center in Las Vegas. This market, one of the largest in the country, gave them an inside look at the latest trends and products available in home furnishings, featuring categories ranging from furniture and accessories to lighting, rugs, and floor coverings. Hear what Jodi, one of the designers at Vander Berg Furniture, had to share about her first time at the Las Vegas Market…
The Las Vegas Market was an incredible experience! I had heard there were 3 million square feet of showrooms and that 50,000 people walk through all of those square feet—but seeing it was another thing! The facilities were gorgeous. The products were beautifully displayed. There was so much to see and consider.
I took 530 pictures to help me remember what we liked, so that when it came time to place some orders, we would have some idea of what we had looked at and loved the most. It was hard to prioritize at first—there were just so many interesting things! As we walked (and walked and walked), Peg and I continued to discuss what the best way to go with products was and how much of each item to order.
The reclaimed look was everywhere! It was done from a very rustic-type finish that still had a little paint on, to a very fine finish using a wood that had an aged look. It is such a fun style—we are really excited to get those pieces on the floor. That reclaimed look carried over onto flooring. There were many new distressed wood or wood-looking flooring options. The rug industry also jumped on this band wagon with a ton of antique looking rugs—they were quite lovely.
The colors at market seemed to be quite playful overall. I am a lover of red…and red was in the fabrics, the pottery, the art—everywhere that you looked. That was really fun for me. There was also a lot of turquoise and gold—very bright and very fun! There was even some purple and fuchsia to round out the color palettes. It would be fun to bring any of these bright colors into a neutral palette and liven up a room!
Pattern seems to be big again in all home products. There was a lot of chevron and Aztec in all the bright colors. They would liven up any space!
The “menswear” look in fabric is still very apparent. There were lovely houndstooth fabrics among other textures. These rich textures paired nicely with the reclaimed woods, but they would look good with any existing wood that you may have.
All in all, it was a great experience!
