Vander Berg Furniture has been around since the 1960’s, but our selection of products has changed quite a bit over the years. It all began when Dave and Gladys, who celebrated their 60th anniversary this past month, started selling pianos. They gradually added furniture and rolls of carpet.
As the next generation purchased the company, with new ideas and new personnel, the focus was defined to fill a void in the market and sell quality merchandise. There are a lot of places to buy “disposable” furnishings, so to speak, but Vander Berg Furniture & Flooring decided to take things to the next level. Customers want drawers that actually open without sticking, and sofas that still feel great years down the road, despite the constant daily use.
Selecting each quality piece of furniture we offer is a team effort. Doug, Janet and Brittany research construction and reputation. Peg and Jodi, our designers, pull styles and fabrics; Kelley and Keanna, sales associates, input their younger perspective; and Kelli, our purchasing agent, tracks our sales and inventory. As you can see, it is a lot of collective wisdom that goes into each selection we choose to offer at Vander Berg Furniture.
But it is always our customer’s wants, needs, and feedback that are most important when selecting pieces for the store. For instance, many of us in this neck of the woods are quite tall, and that is always a consideration when choosing a frame. But we also have perfect selections for the gal who looks for a seat where her feet won’t dangle.
Recently a sales representative from one of our vendors asked how we can sell so many really large dining tables, compared to the rest of the country. We explained that large families are common and many of those still have the extended family over for Sunday dinners.
Flooring is another area where we offer quality options. Loren and Curt research products that offer both value and durability, along with the latest styles and colors on the market.
