3 Tips for Picking the Right Carpet Material
Choosing new carpet can be a challenging process. From finding the perfect color to picking the right style, the options seem limitless…not to mention determining which carpet material to use in your next project. To assist you in this process, we’re going to break down the three main carpet material options in this blog and hopefully help you narrow down your search! Color, style, and look are important, but it’s best to start by picking the right material.
In the case of carpet, you have three options regarding materials. The first is PET (polyethylene terephthalate) which is a “Stain Free” carpet. Made with a polyester carpet fiber, PET’s stain resistant properties makes it easier to clean, but it does not hold up as well as other materials in high traffic areas.
The second material to consider is Nylon, which is known as the “Wear Free” carpet. Nylon is a great-wearing carpet and performs extremely well in high traffic areas. Nylon carpet usually has topically applied stain guard, but it will eventually wash or wear off. Therefore, it doesn’t typically clean as well as a PET or SmartStrand®.
The final material, SmartStrand®, is considered the best of both worlds, which is why we call it the “Worry Free” carpet. SmartStrand® has the qualities of both Nylon and PET to give you the best wearing and cleaning carpet possible, making it extremely durable for high traffic areas AND kid and pet proof for easy clean up. Because of this, we highly recommend SmartStrand® to many of our customers, especially families with kids or pets! Learn more HERE.
